When to Go
December-February is Patagonian summer with warmest temperatures (50-65°F) and longest days. Peak season for trekking.
Avoid: May-September is winter with snow, cold, and many closures. March-April sees strong winds.
Getting There
Fly into Punta Arenas (Chile) or El Calafate (Argentina). Both require connections through Santiago or Buenos Aires. Torres del Paine is 5 hours by bus from Punta Arenas. Private transfers recommended for luxury lodges.
Local Tips
- Book lodges and W Trek refugios 6-12 months in advance for peak season
- Bring layers - weather changes rapidly from sun to wind to rain
- Rent/buy quality gear - wind can reach 60+ mph
